“Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.”  (3x)

The Readings.  Priest: “Let us attend!  Wisdom!”

Prokeimenon, Tone 8 (Chanter).  Psalm 75.

Make your vows and pay them to the Lord our God.  In Judea is God known, His Name is great in Israel.

The Second Letter of St. Paul to Timothy 3:10-15.

Timothy, my son, you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions, my sufferings, what befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, what persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me.  Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived.  But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Alleluia and Verses, with Censing, Tone 8 (Reader).  Psalm 94.

“Come, let us rejoice in the Lord, let us shout with jubilation to God our Savior.  Let us come before His countenance with thanksgiving.”

Priest:  “Wisdom!  Let us attend.  Let us hear the Holy Gospel.  Peace be to all.”

The Holy Gospel of St. Luke 18:10-14.

The Lord spoke this parable:  “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a publican.  The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank thee that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this publican.  I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get.’  But the publican, standing afar off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Sermon.

Great Entrance:  Cherubimic Prayer & Hymn.

“We who mystic’ly represent the Cherubim and who sing to the life-giving Trinity the thrice-holy hymn, let us now lay aside all earthly care...”  (Repeat.)

The Prayers of Consecration.

Priest:  “Take, eat:  this is My Body which is broken for you, for the forgiveness of sins.  Drink ye this:  this is My Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many, for the remission of sins.  Thine own of Thine own we offer unto Thee, in  behalf of all, and for all.”

[Sung softly by the Choir as the people say Amen to the consecration.]  “We praise Thee, we bless Thee, we give thanks unto Thee, O Lord, and we pray unto Thee, O our God, our God.”

Hymn to the Theotokos, the Megalynarion, Tone 1 (All).

“It is truly meet to call thee blessed, Lady Theotokos; Lady ever greatly blessed and most perfect in innocence and the Mother of our God.  Lady more precious than the cherubim, and more glorious beyond all measure than the seraphim, who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word, and art truly Theotokos:  we magnify thee, we magnify thee.”

Communion Prayers.

“I believe, O Lord, and I confess that Thou art truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, Who didst come into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.  And I believe that this is truly Thine own immaculate Body, and that this is truly Thine own precious Blood.  Wherefore I pray Thee, have mercy upon me and forgive my transgressions both voluntary and involuntary, of word and of deed, of knowledge and of ignorance; and make me worthy to partake without condemnation of Thine immaculate Mysteries, unto remission of my sins and unto life everlasting.  Amen.”

“Of Thy Mystical Supper, O Son of God, accept me today as a communicant, for I will not speak of Thy Mystery to Thine enemies, neither will I give Thee a kiss as did Judas; but like the thief will I confess Thee:  Remember me, O Lord, in Thy Kingdom.  Not unto judgment nor unto condemnation be my partaking of Thy Holy Mysteries, O Lord, but unto the healing of soul and body.”

Note:  Unless necessitated by weariness or infirmity, we should remain standing until service’s end.
