The Daughters of the Theotokos
The Daughters of the Theotokos is the St. Joseph Orthodox Church chapter of the Antiochian Orthodox Church Women of North America (AOCWNA) founded in 1989.
The "Daughters of the Theotokos" (D.O.T.) is also a member of the Southwest Region AOCWNA organization and the National AOCWNA, both of which meet twice a year. Each year, AOCWNA chapters across North America promote a common charity. There is currently a five year focus by the Archdiocese for the Clergy Retirement Fund to receive the cash contribution each April.
The women's group also provides a structure for service, socializing, and scheduling.
There is a "business meeting" approximately every other month, usually tied to a brown bag lunch, following a blitz-clean or a social, to select and schedule activities. Anyone is invited to attend and contribute to the discussion. Although there is no formal organization to join or dues to pay, participating in opportunities to serve and socialize strengthens a sense of community.
DIAKONIA is a Quarterly Newsletter of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Women of North America. To Read the current version, visit the Antiochian Orthodox Women of North America Site.
